ACI eManifest Requirements Are Now Mandatory

Attn: King Bros clients holding a valid carrier code

After years of delays and revisions CBSA has finally made carrier filing of ACI eManifests a requirement. For those unfamiliar with this term, it is a requirement for carriers, large and small, to file electronic conveyance and cargo data with CBSA prior to arriving at the border. Failure to do so will result in penalties, and ultimately having the truck and cargo refused entry.

Most large scale commercial carriers within the industry have been aware of this looming change, and they are in the process of finalizing their proprietary eManifest programs. Unfortunately there are a vast number of small or infrequent carriers which have neither the ability, the knowledge, or the resources to establish an internal eManifest program.

King Bros. is aware of this issue, and we will be able to offer eManifest services for our clients with carrier codes through the CBSA eManifest portal. It will, however, require that each carrier registers a Business Account themselves within the portal and assigns King Bros. a User Account. We will be able to file on your behalf, but you MUST first register. Please visit the CBSA website for complete details:

This is a mandatory requirement effective May 06, 2015, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. A transition period will be in place until July 10, 2015 during which time carriers will not be issued penalties. A period where non-monetary penalties will be assessed will run until January 10, 2016 after which point compliance will be mandatory and subject to AMPS penalties.

As daunting as this seems we are here to assist you with this transition, and together we will ensure that your company is properly registered and fully compliant with this new CBSA directive. Please don’t hesitate to contact the undersigned with any and all questions.

Best Regards,

Simon Smith, CCS
